One of the biggest benefits of Link My Books is how quickly you can get started — no coding, no long onboarding. Follow these simple steps to integrate your Shopify store with Xero in less than 15 minutes.
Step-by-Step Setup Guide
📝 Step 1: Create Your Account
Head to linkmybooks.com and sign up. Choose a plan that fits your order volume and sales channels.
🔗 Step 2: Connect Your Sales Channel & Accounting Platform
Once logged in, connect your Shopify store. Then link your Xero account. You’ll be asked to grant access — this lets Link My Books sync payouts and invoices.
🧾 Step 3: Map VAT Codes
Use the guided VAT mapping wizard to assign the correct HMRC VAT codes to each transaction type. This is essential for MTD compliance in the UK.
📦 Step 4: Upload Your Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
Add your product cost data, either via CSV or integration. Link My Books will automatically apply COGS to each order.
💼 Step 5: Sync Your First Payout
Run your first sync and check the draft invoice in Xero. It should perfectly match your Shopify payout amount.
🔁 Step 6: Enable Auto-Sync
Once you’re happy, enable auto-sync. This will send new payouts into Xero automatically — daily, weekly, or monthly.
